Let the engines roar!  After four years in the making, Pinal County is now home to the first private automotive country club, APEX Motor Club which is officially open for business and some of the Valley’s fastest cars are already taking to the track.

Private Motor Sports broke ground on the $40 million APEX Motor Club, located in the City of Maricopa (Pinal County) in October. Since then 2.3 miles of track have been completed and nearly 100 members have signed up.

After phase two and three are completed, the 280-acre development will include some impressive amenities including two connected racing circuits consisting of more than 4 miles of track, numerous garage condominiums for car storage, a clubhouse with restaurant, locker rooms and swimming pool, plus a multi-purpose building and all of the amenities of an exclusive country club in a setting like few others in the country.

Similar to other private automotive country clubs in cities like Chicago, New York and Las Vegas, memberships at APEX will run between $30,000 to $75,000. Members will be limited to 400.

“We are thrilled to be opening the first phase of our one-of-a-kind automobile country club in the Phoenix area,” said owner Matt Williams. “We are still hard at work with finishing the next several phrases but over the next two years our country club will transform into a car home for hall of famers, car collectors and car enthusiasts.  It will be the only place in town where you can drive your prized possessions around a first class facility and enjoy all the amenities of a traditional country club but instead of putting here, you drive.”

Those signed up already consist of snowbirds, racing enthusiasts, car lovers and even some who’s who in the racing world. Members will also have the chance to get first hand classes and instruction by some of the best in auto racing.

Notable founding members include Indy Car Driver and NBC Sports Racing commentator Paul Tracy, two-time Indy 500 Winner Arie Luyendyk and avid car collector and the CEO of the “World’s Greatest Collector Car Show,” Craig Jackson. Backing the project is also sophisticated and diverse development team that includes RJT Companies.

“Driving around the newly constructed APEX course was definitely a great experience with a nice long straight, some really well laid out fast and medium fast turns and thankfully no awkward super slow turns," said Arie Luyendyk, winner of the 1990 and 1997 Indianapolis 500 races and member of Indianapolis Motor Speedway Hall of Fame. "Congratulations to everyone at APEX for the huge effort and push to bring a world class venue to Pinal County, Arizona.”
